April 4, 2022 – Today Total Access Communication PLC, (dtac) held the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders no. 1/2022 (“EGM”) of its shareholders in which they approved dtac’s proposed amalgamation with True. This is a major step towards forming a telecom-tech company that would supercharge Thailand’s digital agenda, deliver new and improved services to their respective customers, and develop the country’s human capital.
In addition to today’s shareholder approval, the amalgamation is subject to regulatory review and notification to creditors. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), the companies’ industry regulator, was notified January 25, 2022 of their intent to amalgamate.
Sharad Mehrotra, CEO of dtac said, “The new company is expected to offer customers improved 5G coverage with better network quality, reliability and speed, as well as value-driven services with improved customer care. We thank all shareholders for the support of this amalgamation. The new telecom-tech company plans to serve higher customer expectations, handle the rapid changes in global market landscape and accelerate Thailand to become a leader in the digital world by leveraging progressive technologies with attractive customer services and superior quality service offerings.”
This process is expected to be completed in H2 2022. Customers will be able to continue to buy and use our services until and following the amalgamation.
